Patriot Day
Patriot Day is an annual observance on September 11th to remember those who were injured or died during the terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001. Many Americans refer to Patriot Day as 9/11.
On this day the American flag will be flown at half-staff at homes, at the white house, and all government buildings home and abroad. We are also asked to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. This is the time the first plane struck the North Tower.
We will not forget the events of that terrible morning nor will we forget how we as Americans responded in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in the skies over Pennsylvania -- with heroism and selflessness; with compassion and courage; and with prayer and hope. We will never forget the individuals who died that day and the families shattered by the tragic events.
