It is hard to believe that 27 months have passed since Matt left us. However, that does mean that the day to celebrate his life, with the SFC Matthew R. Kahler Memorial Scholarship Fundraising Golf Tournament, is rapidly coming upon us. This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, 24 July 2010, at the North Links Golf Course, in North Mankato, MN. We are hoping that this year’s tournament will be as fun and even more successful than last year’s. This year’s tournament date falls on Matt’s 32nd Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!!
As I explained last year, Matt’s Scholarship is an endowment scholarship, where only the earnings are used to fund the scholarship that is given each year. It is our goal that the size of each year’s scholarship will soon reach $1,000. However, in order for that to happen we are going to need to raise the amount of money similar to what all of you helped us raise last year.
Once again, we have decided to have family, individual, or group hole sponsorships, as a means of raising money for this year’s tournament. We are very aware of the economic hardship many of us are facing. Consequently, we have changed the sponsorship fees to $300, $500, $1000, or the amount of your choice. Your donation will give you a sign on one of the holes that reads:THIS HOLE IS SPONSORED BY THE ______________________FAMILY in memory of Matt. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE, since the scholarship is being managed by the YME Dollars for Scholars.
Once again the Kahler family would like to thank all of you for your help and support. This is becoming a wonderful way for all of us to get together and celebrate Matt’s life each year. The scholarship is also wonderful legacy that all of you have helped to create.
We will appreciate it if all hole sponsorships are returned by July 05, 2010.
