Six MN Soldiers Lost Their Lives
On behalf of Minnesota Memorial Riders we would like to send our deepest condolences to all the family members and friends of the six latest servicemen who were killed defending our freedom. This is a very sad day for us as Minnesotan’s and American’s. It is a very grim reminder that freedom is not free.
Our deepest thoughts and prayer’s go out to the family of Spc. Chester W. Hosford, 35 of Hastings. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 106th Cavalry Regiment, Dixon, Ill. Spc. Chester Hosford paid the ultimate price for our freedom on July 6th, 2009.
On July 16th, 2009 we lost three brave young soldiers. They were all assigned to the 34th Military Police Company, 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota Army National Guard, Stillwater, Minn. Lost to us are: Spc. Daniel P. Drevnick, 22, of Woodbury. Spc. James D. Wertish, 20, of Olivia. Spc. Carlos E. Wilcox, 27, of Cottage Grove. There was also a fourth soldier injured in the attack. His name has not been released yet. We would like to extend our thought and prayers to all these families as well. They will always have a special place in our hearts.
On July 17th, 2009, we lost two more service men from Minnesota: Army Ranger Ben Kopp, of Rosemount, passed away at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. due to injuries suffered on July 10th. Captain Thomas Gramith, of Eagan was one of two airmen killed when their F-15 Jet crashed in Afghanistan. Captain Mark McDowell, of Colorado Springs, Colorado also died in the crash.
Minnesota Memorial Riders offers our deepest gratitude and respect for their patriotism, determination and strength. Our prayers are with the families in their time of sorrow.
